When Will The NDC Realize That Nkrumah Founded CPP And Not Their Party?

When Will The NDC Realize That Nkrumah Founded CPP And Not Their Party?

Whoever told the members of the opposition National Democratic Congress that they are Nkrumaists has deceived them.

In case these latter-day NDC members who are shouting Nkrumaism now are oblivious of how they saw Nkrumah, then they better go back into time to read about same.

Their antecedents referred to Kwame Nkrumah as a failure whose only major achievement as Ghana’s President was to give us the Ghana flag, nothing more, nothing less.

Today, you see NDC elements using Nkrumah’s portrait as their display profiles as though he even founded their party.

They behave as though their party was founded on the ideals of Ghana’s first president when his ideological beliefs were miles apart from what the NDC claims to be practicing.

In case these people are not aware of what Kwame Nkrumah stood for, this would help them; Nkrumaism is an African socialist political ideology based on the thinking and writing of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Nkrumah, a pan-Africanist and socialist, served as Prime Minister of the Gold Coast (later Ghana) from 1952 until 1960 and subsequently as President of Ghana before being deposed by the National Liberation Council in 1966. Nkrumah was a socialist to the core.

The Convention People’s Party, CPP, was formed with socialism as the epicenter of its ideological belief. The CPP of today has struggled to work with Nkrumah’s watertight ideology. PNC and some minor parties have tried, rather vainly, to identify themselves with Nkrumaism.

The NDC has said that it is practicing a hybrid of capitalism and socialism; social democracy. The founder of the NDC is late Jerry John Rawlings. Interestingly enough, hardly do we see these NDC members eulogizing J. J. Rawlings on his birthday.

Though they profess to love Nkrumah and use his portraits on various occasions, their love for him is a façade. They only like the idea of Kwame Nkrumah just like every other Ghanaian. His ideology is an anathema to them, putting it simply.

Nkrumah is to the Convention People’s Party whereas Jerry John Rawlings is to the National Democratic Congress. Nkrumah was a socialist, not a social democratic practitioner!
