The Supposed LGBTQI+ Bill, An Agenda to Make Ghana Look Bad

The Supposed LGBTQI+ Bill, An Agenda to Make Ghana Look Bad

From all indications, there is no bill before parliament.
What has been reported in the media which is raising debate is only a draft by some 8 MPs submitted to the speaker at a prayer meeting. There is no bill before parliament so people shouldn’t get unnecessarily excited now.

The crusade is led by Sam George, MP for Ningo Prampram plus six other NDC MPs and one NPP MP. These are the 8 MPs behind the private members bill. A private member’s bill is a bill (proposed law) introduced into a parliament by an MP who is not acting on behalf of the executive branch.

This bill is not from Government per se even though there are some NPP MPs who share the views of the proposers. It is a private members bill.

1. Sam George (MP, Ningo Prampram)
2. Emmanuel Bedzrah (MP, Ho West)
3. Della Adjoa Sowah (MP, Kpando)
4. John Ntim Fordjour (MP, Assin South)
5. Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini (MP, Tamale North)
6. Helen Adjoa Ntoso (MP, Krachi West)
7. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah (MP, La Dadekotopon)
8. Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor (MP, South Dayi).

Sam George says LGBTQI+ is a sexual behaviour and not a human right. Already in the laws of Ghana, such sexual behaviours are banned, called “unnatural carnal knowledge.”

Ghanaians remember the President gave his word that gays etc won’t be legalised under his watch. Nobody is threatening to make that lifestyle legal in Ghana.
What is Mr John Mahama’s views on this issue since we know Akufo-Addo’s view already

Is this bill necessary at all?

The people of this country strongly believe this Govt and this President respect our values and our values will not be compromised for any reason whatsoever

The biggest question now is, why now introduce a law that can only make the world see us as promoting hate and risk blacklisting Ghana?

An agenda Bill promoted by Sam George, the Speaker and other NDC MPs is a trick to put the government in hatred international domain

If Ghana suffers for it they will turn around and take advantage of it.

We have an economy to recover, jobs to create and covid to overcome. Let’s get on with the real things that are knocking on our doors.
